What DeGist Is

DeGist is a personal content digest service. You tell us which creators you want to follow across YouTube, X (Twitter), Substack, Reddit, and other platforms. We fetch their public content, generate summaries to help you stay informed, and present everything in a clean daily digest.

DeGist is built for you, the viewer. We help you keep up with creators you already follow. We are not a social network, not a platform for creators to monetise, and not an algorithmic recommendation engine.

Your Account

To use DeGist, you create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. One account per person. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms or appear to be automated/abusive.

What We Do With Content

We fetch publicly available content from the platforms you connect. We generate summaries using AI (Claude by Anthropic) to help you understand content quickly. We do not host, redistribute, or claim ownership of any creator's content.

Every summary links to the original content. Our goal is to drive you to creators, not away from them. If you find value in a summary, we encourage you to watch, read, or engage with the full original work.

Your Content and Data

You own your data. The creators you follow, your reading history, your preferences — that's yours. You can export it anytime from Settings. You can delete your account anytime, and we'll remove your data within 30 days.

We do not sell your data. We do not show you ads. We do not track you across the web. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Subscriptions and Payments

DeGist offers free and paid tiers. Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe. You can cancel anytime from your Settings page. Cancellation is immediate — no retention flows, no dark patterns, no guilt trips. Your data stays intact at the free tier.

Founding Members receive a locked-in discounted rate for life. This rate persists even if you cancel and later resubscribe (subject to availability).

Founding Member Pricing Guarantee

Founding Members always receive the best available rate. If DeGist ever offers a public discount lower than your founding rate, your rate will automatically adjust to match or beat it. This guarantee lasts for the lifetime of your continuous subscription.

Acceptable Use

Do not use DeGist to:

• Scrape, resell, or republish summaries at scale
• Create multiple accounts to bypass limits
• Interfere with our service or other users
• Violate any applicable laws

We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these guidelines.

Service Availability

We strive to keep DeGist running smoothly, but we cannot guarantee 100% uptime. Platform APIs change, services go down, and maintenance happens. We'll do our best to communicate any significant outages.

DeGist is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service.

AI-Generated Content

DeGist uses artificial intelligence to generate summaries of publicly available content. All summaries are AI-generated and may not perfectly represent the original content. Summaries are provided for informational convenience only.

In accordance with EU AI Act Article 50, all AI-generated summaries are clearly labelled as such. Extractive summaries (key points from transcripts) are also labelled to distinguish them from AI-generated content.

Content Sources

DeGist accesses publicly available content from platforms including YouTube, Substack, Reddit, and RSS feeds. DeGist does not claim ownership of any original content. All summaries link directly to the original source material.

User Responsibility

By adding a content source URL to DeGist, you confirm that you wish to receive AI-generated summaries of that publicly available content for your personal use.

Data Processing

Content summaries may contain names, organisations, or other references from the original material. This data is processed solely for the purpose of generating summaries. See our Privacy Policy for details on data handling.

Third-Party Services

DeGist relies on the following third-party services to operate:

• Anthropic (Claude) — AI summarisation. Content is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic's privacy policy applies.
• Supabase — Database and authentication hosting. Your account data is stored on Supabase's infrastructure.
• Stripe — Payment processing. DeGist never sees or stores your full payment card details; Stripe handles all payment data.
• Vercel — Application hosting. Web requests are processed through Vercel's infrastructure.
• Resend — Transactional email delivery (account confirmations, password resets).
• YouTube / Google — We access YouTube's public RSS feeds and publicly available video metadata for creators you follow.
• Reddit — We access Reddit's public API for subreddit content you subscribe to.

Each service operates under its own terms and privacy policy. We select providers that do not sell data and maintain appropriate security standards.

No Republishing of Original Content

DeGist does not store, display, or redistribute full original content. Only AI-generated summaries and brief extractive quotes are provided, always with attribution and direct links to the original source.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
